Our Origins
When I was around 10 years old, I began working alongside my dad. Whether it was helping on projects, learning how things were built, or simply spending time around tools and construction, those early experiences sparked a passion that has stayed with me ever since.
That passion eventually led me to pursue a degree in Construction Management in Fargo, North Dakota. After college, I spent several years in commercial construction, helping build large-scale projects including schools, athletic facilities, and recreational centers. Over time, I worked my way into leadership roles, managing crews, coordinating subcontractors, and serving as a site superintendent responsible for keeping projects moving from start to finish.
Outside of work, I was constantly building. I spent my free time remodeling and flipping houses, learning firsthand what it takes to transform a property and create spaces people love to live in.
My wife and I eventually decided that Fargo wasn’t where we wanted to put down roots. We were drawn to Duluth for its natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and strong sense of community. After purchasing our home, we completely renovated it and added over 1,000 square feet of living space, turning it into the home our family enjoys today.
Since moving to Duluth, I’ve continued to expand my experience throughout nearly every aspect of residential construction. I’ve worked for a high-end custom home builder where I was involved in projects from site preparation and foundations all the way through finish carpentry and cabinetry. Later, I moved into reconstruction and insurance restoration, helping homeowners rebuild after fire and water losses while coordinating with insurance companies, mitigation teams, and tradespeople to bring their homes back to life.
Throughout every stage of my career, one goal remained constant: someday I wanted to build a company of my own.
That vision became Hill & Harbor Construction.
Today, I specialize in creating outdoor living spaces that bring people together. In a world where so much of life happens behind a screen, I believe there is tremendous value in creating places where families can gather, share meals, entertain friends, and enjoy the outdoors. Whether it’s a custom deck, porch, pergola, or complete outdoor living area, my goal is to build spaces that encourage people to step outside and spend more time together.
As a husband, father of two daughters, runner, outdoorsman, and small business owner, I understand how important home is.
